Chlorophytum comosum Vittatum is the classic retro Spider Plant. Leaves are slender, bright green, with a broad, creamy-white stripe down the centre. Small white starry flowers form in loose sprays attached by short stems that also bear small plantlets (baby spiders).
Horty Hints
Bad hair day! Watering from the soil level and not from above will prevent water getting trapped and those curls falling off or rotting.
Ten in a bed! When the mother plant sends out shoots with plantlets, place a saucer of water or bowl underneath, to trigger root growth. When roots have formed it can be planted.
Brown tips may occur. These can be trimmed away if preferred, but avoid cutting into the green part of the foliage as this will only create more brown further up the leaf.
