The Aphelandra squarrosa Botanica, also known as the Zebra Plant, is a beautiful and exotic houseplant, boasting eye-catching lush dark green leaves adorned with white veins. Under the right conditions, golden yellow flower bracts can emerge, taking the tropical flair to ludicrous levels of lushness.
Horty Hints
Know Your Yellow. Mature leaves will naturally begin to yellow as they age but leaves yellowing in quick succession are likely to be an issue with overwatering.
Living on the edge! Crisping up at the edges of leaves is a watering issue or overexposure to bright light. Brown leaf tips are common on this plant but will spread to whole leaves if left to dry out or exposed to too much bright sunshine.
Wipe leaves with a damp cloth to remove accumulated dust. Do not use leaf shine as this will damage the foliage.
