Aloe vera is a cool choice that is bang on trend. It looks great grown on a windowsill or shelves.
Aloe is a slow growing stemless succulent with thick, fleshy, grey-green leaves with serrated edges. Although Aloe vera is typically found outdoors in equatorial climates it is more than happy grown in a pot inside in our more temperate climate. It is an easy plant to care for and is well known for its healing and air purification properties.
Horty Hints
Drain away baby! Aloe vera needs well-draining soil as it will not be happy sitting in excess water which can lead to lower leaf rot.
Skip the snip! Avoid trimming your Aloe vera as this can cause stress and shock, however, if things do become unruly, prune the outermost leaves first as these are the most mature.
Hold your horses! Be sure not to overwater your Aloe vera, instead water sparingly every 2-3 weeks.
