Horty Hints
Weird about water. Guzmania take in water through their central tank and leaves in addition to their roots. Maintain a filled central tank and flush it out regularly to prevent water from becoming stagnant.
Rosette rebirth. Their striking orange bract "flower" will live for 3-6 months before dying right back. New plants can be propagated from shoots that emerge from the mother plant.
Epic epiphytic: Guzmania attach to trees in the wild with roots that never reach the soil, eliminating the need for repotting - except when splitting new shoots or (pups) from the parent plant.
