Adorned with golden yellow spots that create a striking contrast to dark green, the glossy and vibrant leaves of Aucuba japonica, commonly known as Japanese Laurel or Spotted Laurel are bursting with captivating colour.
Out-side-in. Valued for its ability to thrive in almost any environment, you may be familiar with Aucuba japonica as an outdoor plant. These specimens are hardened to indoor conditions.
Cool dude. Japanese Laurel prefers things a little cooler than most indoor plants so avoid putting too close to any heat sources or into scorching sun.
Too much sun, hun! Crispy leaves are a sign that your plant has had too much sun. Relocate to rejuvenate.
Light
Prefers a shaded area to bright, indirect light. Will tolerate some lighter shade, but too much light will cause discolouration of leaves. Avoid direct sunlight.
Watering
In the growing season ensure the soil remains moist at all times, watering when the top of the soil feels slightly dry to the touch. In winter allow the potting mix to dry out a little more between watering. Do not allow to sit in soggy soil. Use soft water if possible.
