Musa Tropicana - Super Dwarf Cavendish Banana Plant

This plant is no longer available please see our Large Leafed Plants Collection for our latest species.

Banana Plants provide wonderful foliage as house plants. In most cases, it is the Dwarf varieties that are best suited to being grown indoors, such as this Musa acuminata Super Dwarf Cavendish.

The Musa Tropicana has a compact, symmetrical appearance and large, paddle-shaped leaves. Young plants have maroon or purple blotches on their leaves which often disappear as the leaf matures. They are ideal for sun-rooms, conservatories and garden rooms, as these plants love lots of good light.

Please note, the Musa leaves are fragile and bruise and tear easily, often snapping under their own weight. This is considered part of their charm and new leaf generates extremely quickly.

Horty Hints

Fight off the fold! Folded leaves happen when your Musa has had too much sun and not enough water. Provide shade and refreshments.

The Musa's leaves naturally tear as they unfurl and mature. Fortunately, this plant is fast-growing, so you won't have to wait long for better leaves to come along.

Some stems may be bent or creased on arrival due to the way the plants are packaged for transit by the growers.

Please note: images show how this plant may look at various stages of maturity. The size you choose may look different.
