Dieffenbachia make a lush interior statement with their large tropical, air cleaning foliage. Sometimes known as Dumb Cane because of the toxic leaves and sap that cause swelling of the mouth if ingested (rendering you speechless) so best to keep away from children and pets.
Dumb Cane is also known as Mother-In-Law’s Tongue and Leopard Lily. Its full scientific name is Dieffenbachia amoena. There are many varieties of Dieffenbachia with beautiful variegations in hues of green, white, cream and yellow. They are relatively easy to care for and are fantastic at removing airborne toxins and purifying the air.
