Looking for a cool, funky, alien vibe? How about a Spiralled Cereus cactus. The blue-green colour and spiralling, columnar form is out of this world and very easy to look after.
Younger plants begin life with straight ribs that twist at about 10cm. The ribs are covered in spines which can be variable in length. Flowers are pink or white, with long delicate petals.
Also sometimes known as Cereus peruvianous tortulosus, with common names including Twisted Cereus and Contorted Cereus.
Horty Hints
Less is more! Allow your spiralis’ soil to dry-out completely in between watering. Water sparingly to avoid root and stem rot.
Shade-seeker! Surprisingly, this cactus prefers to stay out of the direct sunlight. Seek an area with plenty of light, or with occasional shade during the day for best results.
Life-size! Despite its adorable size, with room to grow, the Spiralis can eventually reach heights of around 2 metres!
